A Great Week!

Shane is home from his third deployment to Iraq and he flew in on Independence Day! I think it was his easiest deployment. Not being gone for a year, staying in a place with access to a pool, a more relaxed schedule. He came home looking healthy and tan. We joke with him that he got a spray on. It's always nice to say hello again and feel like your family is whole again. There's always that nagging piece missing while they are away. Things you wish they were there for. Etc. We celebrated the 4th at the base here in Germany. We got together with friends from Shane's work. It was awesome to celebrate with a bunch of Americans.
Yesterday we headed off to Augsburg Germany, Shane's birthplace, to watch Sweden play Australia. If the US had beaten Sweden we would've watched the US play Sweden but it wasn't meant to be and thank goodness because the game against Brazil was an exciting one. We were in a mad dash to get home to watch the game and knew we were going to miss it so we opted to stop at an Italian restaurant to catch the game. They were so accommodating for us. Seating us right under the TV and putting up with our cheers for the team and jeers at the ref. Watching the world cup has been our family, Janet and Ron and Brandi and Gregg. As soon as the game was over we called Drake to purchase us tickets to the USA V. France game. We got 'em. On Wednesday we'll be making the four hour trip north  to cheer on USA in the quarter finals. Awesome sauce.
On Saturday we headed to Shane's work for the annual pig roast. It was so much fun. No. Drake is not on his toes. He is getting taller or Shane is shrinking. I love my family.  Have you ever made cupcakes in ice cream cones? I will only make them this way from now on. So much easier to eat!
On Thursday Dev will be heading back to the states. I have enjoyed her being here. It went by too fast. She doesn't start school until August BUT she wants to hang with her friends some. We're gonna miss her but that is our life now. We are in the countdown for Drake to head out next summer. They grew up so fast.
Last but not least is my June layout for Project 12. This is the farthest I have gotten and I am committed to this yearly assignment. I am so thankful for those who run it. For this Project 12 I focused on our trip to Rome. I mentioned the rest of the month in journaling. I will never forget that trip.
